Deal
or No Deal at the 2010 Olympics
It seems
as though comedian and game show host Howie Mandel is a
big fan of Johnny & the Wallkers. He was spotted by TZM cameras
chasing down two band members (Jim Wall and Fabio Wallker
- below with Mandel) in the concourse of the Pacific Coliseum
Monday night at the 2010 Olympics Pairs Figure Skating Free Skate
Finals.

Gunn
Spotted at 2010 Olympics

A crowd gathers at
Whistler as Vice President Joe Biden stops to sign
autographs and shake hands with JATWs own Fabio Walker
(behind person in view). Biden is a fan of the Philly Shufle.

Suddenly from the
crowd sprung famous JATW personality Dr Ian Gunn. (That's
Bidens grey hair and right ear behind Dr. Gunn's head)
Just as this pic was taken, Dr Gunn was heard yelling "hey
Joe, you look flush....let me take your blood pressure!!"
And then lunged for the unsuspecting vice president much to the
chagrin of the secret service agent on the right...
Unfortunately the
International Olympic committe has banned picture number 3 from
the internet due to the graphic nature of the photo.
It shows Dr. Ian Gunn getting tasered and ironically "stun
Gunned", dragged, and beaten from the scene to loud cheers
from the bystanding olympic crowd, and thrown into a big puddle
simultaneously by all 6 of Joe Bidens security people. As
the poor doctor lay in what would appear to be his final resting
puddle, druelling and twitching uncontrollably, sadly 3 little
children from Belarus were seen giggling and throwing rocks at
him.
Gunn was since airlifted and taken to Pemberton Hospital just
north of whistler and is resting comfortably.

Lynnwood
Expects Exploding Briefcases, Cukoo Clocks and No Common Sense
from Anderson
The band returns
to the Lynnwood this weekend, one of its favourite venues.
And why not? It's one of the best live venues in Vancouver boasting
an awesome stage and great dance floor.
Special
guest will be Richard Anderson, who played the overly-serious
Oscar Goldman on the 1970s hit series "The Six
Million Dollar Man."
During
first set breaks Friday and Saturday, he will deliver an up-tempo
and exciting presentation on "how to win at blackjack."
Anderson has been a fixture at Las Vegas casinos for over 40 years
and is most remembered for his 1984 marathon at Caesar's Palace
when he sat down at a blackjack table on a Friday afternoon and
did not leave his seat until Monday morning. His meals were served
to him at the table. When he left he had lost over a million dollars!
Anderson's
credits also include organizing "Third Rock from the Sun"
Casino Nights at the Flamingo Hotel and Casino in 1998
featuring Kristin Johnson and Jane Curtain, former
actresses from the TV series as special guests, but the gamble
didn't pay off and the unusual event was cancelled after only
2 weeks. It was complete flop!
Anderson,
well into his 80s, will also provide an intense discussion regarding
the strong possibility of super-intelligent Sasquatches
in northern BC working with enemy forces. Following his electrifying
pronouncement, he will participate in a heated debate with
doctor of psychiatric and biological sciences, Dr. Ryan Mutter,
on the likelihood of a Sasquatch located near Dawson Creek
using an invisible car as reported by Anderson's group two years
ago.
In
October 2007 several members of Anderson's undercover vigilante
group reported a stealth car, 99% invisible to the human
eye, being driven by a Sasquatch through local streets. Anderson
has been tracking Sasquatches for over 30 years, studying their
social-scientific development, and is convinced that these unusual
creatures have expanded their scientific capabilities well beyond
those of human kind. He believes that a group of "Super-Sasquatches",
in partnership with an Abominable Snowman in northern BC,
are now communicating with foreign enemies, who have a deadly
missile pointed at a major US target at this very moment. The
dangerous organization is working incognito as a lumber camp.
Anderson must stop them before it is too late with or without
Steve Austin.
Concurrently,
Dr. Mutter has been watching Anderson for several years and has
voiced his concerns about the former actors' mental health, coming
up short of having him committed to a California Psychiatric Hospital.
Mutter believes the Sasquatch/ Snowman theory is nonsense and
plans to cut Anderson off at the pass in the debates.
Lynnwood patrons will be provided not only scientific materials
from Anderson supporting his theory, but also medical reports
on his own health by Dr. Mutter.
Anderson has countered that he will be using a Six Million
Dollar Man style "exploding briefcase" to defend
himself if Mutter attempts to sedate him.
The
presentation and debate is brought to Lynnwood patrons by the
Wing Ho Chinese Restaurant.

For all your dining, security and loan needs
.the
Wing Ho! How can you lose?
Anderson
is also considered one of the world's leading authorities in the
study of Cukoo Clocks and boasts a collection of over 80
of the unusual devices. He is related to famous Cukoo clock designer
Adolf Herr, and is a co-founder of Cucoo-Clocks.com.
Anderson will not be taking questions on Cukoo clocks at the Lynnwood
due to time constraints and patrons are asked not to bring
their own Cukoo clocks to the event. Patrons are also asked not
to bring Six Million Dollar Man toys and collectables to the event.
In celebration of Anderson's appearance, the Lynnwood will be
providing party favors on both nights.
About
Cuckoo Clocks:
The design of a cuckoo clock is now conventional. Most are made
in the "traditional style," a wall hanging chalet. In
the "traditional style" the wooden case is decorated
with carved leaves and animals. Most now have an automaton of
the bird that appears through small swing doors while the clock
is striking. The bird is often made to move while the clock strikes,
typically by means of an arm that lifts the back of the carving.
Some have musical movements, and play a tune on a Swiss music
box after striking the hours and half-hours. Usually the melody
sounds only at full hours in eight-day clocks and both at full
hours and half hours in one-day clocks, however settings can
be changed so that movements occur up to every five minutes if
desired, so as to deliver utter madness.
In
recent years, quartz battery-powered cuckoo clocks have been available.
These do not have cuckoo bellows. As on mechanical cuckoo clocks,
the cuckoo bird emerges from its enclosure and moves up and down,
on some quartz clocks it also flaps its wings as it calls, but
instead of the call being reproduced by bellows, the call is a
digital recording of a cuckoo calling in the wild (with a corresponding
echo). The cuckoo call is usually accompanied by the sound of
a water fall and other bird call in the background. For more information
please visit www.cukoo-clocks.com.

Are You Ready? 2010
The Are You Ready?
2010 Tour kicked off in dynamite style at Toby's Friday and
Saturday night, featuring a trio lineup as Stefano Walker was
absent. Some new additions to the set list propelled the band
to two solid performances, kickstarting the new year.

Last
of 2009
Two shows on Friday
and Saturay nights wrapped up the very successful "Rock Juice
Tour 2009" for the band. Friday night the band was in classic
form and it was a wild night again at Toby's. Saturday night was
more mellow with patrons choosing to sit back and enjoy the music
rather than dance. Video

See you all next year. The 2010 schedule comes out very soon.

Wrapping
Up 2009 This Weekend
It's been a long
year and the band had played a lot of shows in 2009. It's been
a lot of fun for us too and we would like to put a special thanks
out to those who came out to enjoy what we had to offer. We've
played some old familiar venues, some new ones, added some songes
along the way, met some new people and made some memories.
We'll be at Toby's
one more time this year on Friday and Saturday, December
4th & 5th before saying goodbye until next year. Hoep
to see you out for one last weekend of smashing fun.

John and Jim

BJ
and the Bear Night and the Wing Ho
The Band Returns
to the Lynnwood in North Vancouver this weekend for shows Friday
and Saturday night.
Special guest will
be Nile Kedman, the top Arnold Horseshack impersonator
on the planet (Welcome Back Kotter), who will discuss his upcoming
role in the 2010 remake of the 1979 flop, B.J. and the Bear.
In
the original television show, B.J. McCay was a good-looking young
trucker who traveled around the country in his big red & white
rig, with a single companion - his pet chimp, Bear. B.J. was based
in rural Georgia and was confronted by a succession of corrupt
local sheriffs, all the while finding himself mixed up in spontaneous
sideline (and sometimes rather rough) romantic flings with female
local drifters. The show flopped and was cancelled after one and
a half seasons, which makes it prime material for a Johnny &
the Wallkers show.
Kedman
will explain in great detail, just why he is producing and starring
in a remake of such a disastrous 70's show. In pre-sight, Kedman
has indicated that he always thought B.J. and the Bear had a tremendous
amount of potential to deliver a strong message to children of
the south about the dangers of local sheriffs, and local drifters
with ulterior and selfish motives. In addition, he hopes to address
the alarming population boom of local drifters with his new plan
to confront them using an Arnold Horseshack approach from the
days of Welcome Back Kotter, featuring Ron Palillo
whom he currently impersonates on the New Jersey Motel Bar Circuit.
This comedy circuit is considered to be one of the most trying
for comedic impersonators. Kedman was also rumored to have fought
Palillo behind one the circuit motels in 2005, however reports
have yet to be confirmed.
Kedman will take
interested Lynnwood patrons on a short "field trip"
during the first break to a nearby storage locker area, where
some local drifters are rumored to be regularly loitering. He
will confront the drifters with an impersonation of Kotter's Horseshack,
before climbing into an 18-wheel rig and driving off with his
pet chimp, waiving to the audience. Field trip attendees will
have the special privilege of fighting with the drifters behind
a filthy, trashy warehouse, should they choose to do so.
This
exciting special guest activity appears to be positioned perfectly
for a Johnny & the Wallkers show. Lynnwood patrons will have
a chance to dance to the classic rock, then between sets be thrust
into a dangerous confrontation in a seedy industrial area. Additionally,
those participating in the field trip will receive a B.J. and
the Bear 2010 poster signed by Kedman, as well as Johnny Oliver
who owns 50% of the nearby "Wing Ho" Chinese Restaurant.
The Wing Ho has been serving longshoremen delicious Cantonese
dishes for over 5 years now, and since Oliver has become involved
in the enterprise a year ago, annual revenues have jumped by over
400%.
"Wing Ho...for ALL your dining, financial and personal
needs! Wing Ho...we're there for you, whether you like it or not!"
Those interested
in participating in this exciting event need to be at the Lynnwood
no later than 5pm to pre-register and have their pictures taken
for security purposes. A fee of $30 per person will be charged
to cover transportation, security, actors fees, a fuel surcharge
for the rig, and Mr. Oliver's expenses.
A box lunch will
be provided, however attendees are advised that they may need
to make their own arrangements for transportation back to the
Lynnwood for the second set, or directly to the airport to reach
their connecting flights. Please do not bring your CB radios to
this event.
The band expects
Kedman and his B.J. and the Bear field trip to completely flop,
so get there early on Friday as space is limited.
The Lynnwood,
B.J. and the Bear, Horseshack, and the Wing Ho...how can you lose?

Toby's
Is Where the Action Is
Two fantastic nights
and a packed house was what greeted patrons of Toby's on Friday
and Saturday night and the band help Amy Walker and Denise
Hughes celebrate birthdays Saturday.
Friday's warm up act "Double" was a flop, playing
"The Captain of Her Heart" three times in 30 minutes,
before being booted from the bar without a chance to discuss the
ground offense of the Kansas City Chiefs. Dr. Gunn was
a no show. He won't be back again as a special guest. Saturday's
guest, The Blow Monkees were kayoed in the downstairs parking
lot and bound and gagged in the back of a van until Sunday morning.
Otherwise, it was
a great time of utter madness.

Gunn Coming to Saturday show
Mr. embellishemnt
himself will be on hand to provide you with a series of lies on
Saturday. Come on down, date Gunn, and get lied to.

Double
Trouble at Toby's This Weekend
Who could forget
these famous lyrics...
"As
the day came up she made a start
She stopped waiting another day for
The captain of her heart
Too long ago
Too long apart
She couldn't wait another day for
The captain of her heart"
This Friday night
at Toby's the band welcomes the 80s pop band DOUBLE
of "The Captain of Her Heart" fame. Double will
perform a revamped AND EXTENDED version of the song that made
Europe sing in unison in 1986.
Lead singer Kurt Maloo has received further notoriety over
the past two years as the offensive coordinator for the NFL
Kansas City Chiefs. Maloo is considered a modern day master
of scheming traditional football running plays. Immediately following
the rendition of the Captain of Her Heart he will lecture on the
evolution of the draw play, historical plays over left tackle
from the line of scrimmage, and provide a bonus segment on guard
trap plays running end arounds.
Although their appearance
is similar, Maloo should not be confused with Daryl Dragon
of the Captain and Tennille. In 1989 Maloo challenged
Dragon to a death match cage fight only to be turned down by the
rival shaded captain of ther keys. The two make their dislike
for each other very evident.
In
celebration of the special guests, Toby's will be offering the
Designer Mystic Pizzas at market price and the band will
host the CB Radio Swap Meet from 7 to 9 before the first
set. Remember that only pre 1982 CB radios in proper working order
are permitted and no early birds please!
Saturday Night
is BLOW MONKEYS NIGHT. The Blow Monkeys will warm up
the audience with their crap hit song from 1987 "Digging
Your Scene." The Blow Monkees have been hiding in Pakistan
since 1992, recording pop songs and staying out of the public
light...UNITL NOW WHEN THEY RETURN to the public eye and ear.

So come on down and give them a hard time and run them out of
Toby's on a rail into the trash bin because no one wants the
Blow Monkeys around. They suck!

Pitt
Meadows Deja Vu
A special thanks
to Carey Quinn of the Pitt Medaows Soccer Association who
organized the fundraiser last Saturday. It was the band's third
year playing the event, which has a special place in JATW lore.
A very enjoyable show for the band and some great audience support.
Thanks also to Eleanor.
Video footage
to come soon.

|
Happy Birthday to Rola
The band was fortunate
enough to beinvited to play the private and very special birthday
party for Rola on Saturday night, wonderful wife to Andrew,
owner of Toby's Pub where the band plays regularly. It
was a very enjoyable and classy evening at the Canvas Lounge
in Gastown.

The
Return Six Inch Average
Toby's was the scene
of the past revisited Saturday night with a special guest on two
songs. None other than Rachel Strobl, former singer of
the Vancouver band Six Inch Average, joined her former
drummer Jim Wall and the rest of JATW for Rock and Roll and You
Shook Me...shaking the house down. It was truly a special evening
for Jim Wall who formed SIA years ago with Rachel.
On another note,
no one was able to find and correctly decipher the mark on the
door of Toby's, because of an error by the staff who mistakenly
marked the rear service door instead of the front door. The contest
will be rescheduled at a future date.
Friday night's guest
Frank Joe Corolla was injured when he was hit in the face
with a Hardy Boys hardcover book, and subsequently taken to hospital
before his discussion. As a matter of trivia, Corolla was hit
with series book number 15, The Sinister Signpost.
|
|
Don't
Pull Your Love Out On Me Baby
The band returns
to Toby's Pub on Commercial Drive this weekend, September 18 &
19 at 9pm.
Special
guest on Friday night will be Joe Frank Corolla, bassist
and singer for the Los Angeles based 1970's soft rock/ pop band
Hamilton, Joe Frank and Reynolds, which served up the 1971
classic hit "Don't Pull Your Love Out On Me Baby."
The band was
a complete flop.
Rather that play
that crappy song, Corolla will incorporate the creativity of his
unusual name and discuss the Top Ten Hardy Boys books,
featuring Frank and Joe Hardy.
Corolla
will also use a CB radio in his presentation and have a
volunteer audience member bound and gagged uderneath
the stairs for the duration of the last set!
Mark
on the Door Night
Saturday night will be
"Mark on the Door Night"
and staff will affix a special mark on the door of Toby's. Any
guest who is able to decipher the mark on the door will win
a free 3 foot XLR microphone cable, a Robertson Head Screwdriver
and a Mexican leather wristband. (No early birds please!)
Robertson
Screwdriver Exhibit
A Robertson screwdriver is a type of screwdriver with a square-shaped
tip with a slight taper (in the same way that flatheads, Phillips,
hex, and Torx have flat, x-shaped, hexagonal, and hexagrammal
tips, respectively).
Canadian-born P.L. Robertson invented the Robertson screw and
screwdriver in 1908. He received a patent in 1909, and later applied
for and received other patents. The last patent expired in 1964.
Robertson screwdrivers
are easy to use one-handed, since the tapered socket retains the
screw, even if it is shaken. They also allow for the use of angled
screw drivers and trim head screws. The socket-headed Robertson
screws are self-centering, reduce cam-out, stop a power tool when
set, and can be removed even if painted-over or old and rusty.]
In industry, they speed up production and reduce product damage.
A complete set
of Robertson Screw Drivers will be available for viewing prior
to the show on Saturday night with Corolla demonstrating the correct
usage of this very handy tool.
This should be one of the most exciting crowd participation
events the band has ever had, so get out early, and bring your
CB radios again. Please refrain from bringing your own screwdrivers
to the show for safety reasons.

Doctor
in the House
Dr.
Gunn attended the Friday show at Toby's, and survived a rather
nasty and unfortunate tumble down the stairs, followed by an accidental
beating to the head with a baseball bat, in order to make a special
guest appearance. He appears to be "on call" 24/7 these
days, with little or no regard for his personal reputation in
his womanizing, although his image is flattered in this picture
by the more charismatic Dawn.
On
a more serious note, another truly special guest, Reid Mitchell
of the Toronto Maple Leafs was a guest of Graham Wall's
(Vancouver Canadians) in attendance. The show was a real killer
and tha band does it again tonight at Toby's.
|
|
Get
Gunn Again
The
band will be back at Toby's on August 21 and 22 for the first
time in three months, and with some fresh new additions to the
setlist.
Special guest will be the return of Dr. Gunn from Texas. Gunn
was a special guest at Malone's two years ago, but since that
time the band has decided that they've had enough of his lying
cheating ways and to take punishing action against him. "Get
Gunn Night" will feature Dr. Gunn thrown down the stairs
at Toby's during the first set break, then strung up and used
as a human pinata. Gunn will be exposed as a phoney doctor who
has been merely manipulating people for his own personal benefit
for several years now.
Come
on down to Toby's for some good music, food and wine...and a good
shitkicking of Gunn.
|
|
No
Mistake This Time
After
two years of futility with the weather at the North Shore Winter
Club Summer Smash Party, the band played inside this year
in the ballroom as opposed to the patio. A good thing as it was
cold and wet outside. No show stops , no tarps and tents, no electrical
danger. It was all good, and a solid rocking show.
|
|
80's
Night
A
terrific evening at Hazelmere Golf and Country Club on Friday,
July 31 with an all 80's set for a special birthday party. The
band has added the new 80s selections to the permanent rotating
set list for inclusion in future shows. Included was a special
version of Billie Jean, featuring Fabio Walker playing Michael
Jackson.
|
|
Introducing
Mr. & Mrs. Thornhill
Congratulations
to Liz Dobbin and Brad Thornhill who tied the knot Saturday night,
and weregracious enough to bring the band to play the reception
at the Roundhouse in Yaletown Vancouver. A terrific show for the
many on hand at the wonderful celebration. A great time for the
band too.

Surprise
50th Birthday Party
A special event last
Saturday night when the band played a surprise birthday party
for Ian McRae, thrown perfectly by his wife Lesley at the Hugo
Ray Clubhouse. Despite the wet conditions, turnout was excellent
and the place rocked until the wee hours of the morning. A special
thanks from the band to Lesley. That one was a lot of fun.

Power
Trio
The band kicked off
2009 with two shows at the snowed in Toby's Pub Friday and Saturday
night, with a first...the first time the band played as a trio.
Stefano was taken ill so the band went with a scaled back lineup
to much acclaim.
Band Security Manager
Scott Patterson, who had formally filed a grievance against
the band in December 2008, was a no show when the case was called
on both nights. As a result, the grievance was dismissed. It was
learned later that Patterson was stuck in Whistler due to a road
closure, so he will have to re-file the grievance against Johnny
& the Wallkers. Due to his absence, patrons were unable to
"Get Scottie" as originally planned. Get Scottie night
will be rescheduled to a later date.
|
|
Kicking Off 2009
...this weekend the
band opens 2009 at Toby's Pub on Commercial on both Friday
and Saturday, January 2nd and 3rd. A floating rumor is that the
band may play as a trio on one of the nights with a few new tunes
installed.
This is also "Get
Scotty Night" Coome on down and get Scotty, or band Security
Manager, who has recently filed a grievance against Johnny &
th Wallkers. The first set will be entirely composed of legal
negotiations between both sides.

Mystic
Pizza Night at Toby's
A truly "mystical"
evening on Friday at Toby's Pub for Mystic Pizza Night.
A few patrons not only came in Mystic Pizza costumes, but some
even broke down in tears to replay some of their favourite scenes.
Surprisingly, custom pizza orders were almost non-existant, except
for one dine and dasher who took off without paying for his "Hollywood
Ending Pazza."

Lynnwood
Pub, Two Thumbs Up!
We'd
have to agree that the Lynnwood was one of the best places we've
played as a band. Outstanding venue, stage, sound system and dance
floor with lots of people and a festive atmosphere. If you missed
the two shows this past weekend, you really missed a great time
and the band really rocked it hard, even bringing in some new
hard rock songs to bolster the ammunition.
Special
guest John Taggart was missing at the first set and growing
concern led to an all points bulletin for the Lorne Greene
impersonator who was to perform in break one Friday night. After
an exhaustive search, he was found early Saturday evening bound
and gagged in a van behind a nearby gas station, dressed in a
Battlestar Galactica outfit, leading to thoughts that he
was waylaid on the way to his performance Friday night. The exhausted
and shaken Taggart commented that his days of imperonating Greene
are numbered as this is not the first attack he has suffered during
these performances. In 2006, while performing at the Wheelhouse
Pub, he was dragged from his car in the underground parkade, tied
up, blindfolded and gagged for six hours while kidnappers searched
for Battlestar Galactica memorabilia in his vehicle.
The
band hopes to return to the Lynnwood in the new year. Special
thanks to bar manager Jessie and head waitress Georgina.
Photos
to come soon.

Very
Special Guest at the Lynnwood
The
band returns to the Lynnwood Pub Friday and Saturday night
after a year and a half absence, and welcomes a very special
guest Friday night.
John
Taggart, professional Lorne Green impersonator. During
the first break Taggart will reinact some of the more noted and
famous scenes from the original 1970's Battlestar Galatica
episodes, in which Green flopped, including the famous fight scene
with Captain Apolo over the ship controls after he was drugged
by enemy commanders at a truce meeting earlier.
The band is excited to have Taggart play Green at the Lynnwood
Friday night and urge patrons to get there early to get a good
seat for the show.

Overcoming
Technical Difficulties
The
band overcame some initial technical problems with the sound system
and the show went on as planned on this rainy Vancouver night.
Despite lost voices, numb hands and flaky microphones it all worked
out in an evening full of challenges. Fun for everyone and when
someone tells you it's "Money for nothing, chicks for free,"
advise them otherwise. Thanks to everyone who came out!

Something
New
The
band will play at Toby's Pub on Commercial Street for the
first time on Friday, July 25. Toby's is an intimate and
very popular neighborhood Pub along the lines of the Queen's Cross.
Note that the show is on a Friday night.
|
|
Queen's Cross Again
Due
to the cancellation of the Malone's June 7th show, the band is
delighted to announce it has been booked at the Queen's Cross
on Saturday, June 7/08.
This
is the second visit to the popular Lonsdale pub, the first was
a raging success back in February.
The
band asks for your support for this upcoming gig as it goes in
a new direction post-Malone's, and a big patron draw is very important.
The Queen's Cross Pub is an outstanding replacement venue to Malone's
and the band is very excited about returing to the pub in their
very back yard. This couldn't have worked out better.
|
|
Thanks
for the Memories
Regretfully
Malone's has decided to go in a different direction with respect
to live music at this time, and the upcoming shows on June 7th
and August 23rd have been cancelled.
Thanks
to all of you that joined us there over the past two years for
some very memorable evenings. Lots of great events, new songs,
and wierd happenings, such as Superman Bachelor night, Halloween,
birthday parties for Stefano and John, Dr. Ian Gunn Night, Weekend
at Bernie's Night, Hawaii 5-O CB Radio Night, Kotter Redux Night,
Craps games in the back alley, economics presentations during
set breaks, UFC fight nights with the roid crew, and Robert Shaw
Impersonator Fight Night.
Many special bar patrons joined us onstage to share in the vocals
and a swig and a swill afterwards.
Thanks to all of the special guests who joined us (or at least
intended to) including Nick Michaels of Friday Night Videos, who
was our first ever VIP.
In retrospect, while the band has branched out to numerous venues
throughout the lower mainland during this period, Malone's Bar
and Grill always had a special place in our heart and was like
home for us. It was also the venue for the band's first ever public
gig back in June of 2006. We'll certainly miss the bricks of Malone's
and the good times there, and all of you who joined us for many
a night.

Malone's
Show Review
One
of the best shows in the history of the band was presented Saturday
night at Malone's to celebrate band lead guitarist John Samulski's
birthday. A memorable evening to say the least, and the band
was in fine "full throttle" rock form. A special thanks
to longtime friend of Johnny's, Terry MacNeill from Edmonton,
who joined the band onstage for a few numbers including a scorching
rendition of American Idiot.
(?Actress?) Toni Moon was a no show (again), having evidently
met someone in the alley behind the bar en route to Malone's.
Nevertheless the band delivered a killer night of entertainment
and a happy birthday to Johnny.

You Say It's Your Birthday
Band guitarist John Samulski will celebrate his birthday Saturday
April 19th at Malone's. Special guests will include Terry
McNeill from Edmonton as a musical guest.
In
additon Toni Moon who played Girl #2 in Smokey
and the Bandit 3 will also be a special guest. Not
much is known about Toni Moon, except that she was a fine girl
in and around that movie. As usual the film was a complete flop!
It was just terrible. Toni will discuss just "what went wrong"
in the making of Smokey and the Bandit 3 during the first set
break of the night.

Tantrum
and Tantra
The band's first ever trip to the Tantra Lounge in North Vancouver
ws a memorable one and for a good cause. Thanks to Romella for
her great organizing and hospitality.
Stefano
Walker is alright after a crazy fan crashed into him during the
third set...knocking him roughly to the floor and bending his
mike stand. Fortunately everything worked out fine.

Special
Guest at Malone's March 8th
A very special guest has been confirmed for the band's upcoming
Malone's show on March 8th. Darren Jones a professional
Robert Shaw Impersonator will be on hand to present some
great Shaw moments including a recreation of the famous James
Bond - Red Grant fight scene in From Russa with Love...and
to play a couple of songs on the drums...before trying to kill
someone in the bar.
A few scenes of what we can expect that night below:

Grant Fighting

Grant Pulling

Grant Trying
to Kill a bar patron with a "choke-string watch"

The
band can't wait to see the Robert Shaw impersonation,
particularly about having a recreation of a Red Grant - James
Bond fight to the death. This is going to be great!
|
An
Astronomical Evening
The band very much enjoyed playing at Cleveland Elementary School's
Astronomical Evening last night...and brilliant evening for
a great cause in fundraising for the school. The decor was stunning
as were the guests. A double encore night!
Video footage of parts of the performance is forthcoming, |
|
Queen's
Cross and 2 New Walkers!
We hope you had a chance to catch the show at the Queen's Cross
last night. It was truly a special evening, on the band's initial
engagement at the popular North Van pub. (Who was that hanging
from the upper rails while drunk?)
The band had a great time in the smallest venue they've ever played.
Thanks to all who turned out, and the band will be back at the
QX.
**
The big excitement of the day, however, was Candace Walker giving
birth to healthy twins on Saturday just before showtime. Congratulations
to Stefano and Candace!
Pictures of this may not be available to the clones.

Hello
Lonsdale Avenue!
The band has just been confimed for Saturday 23rd at the Queen's
Cross Pub in North Vancouver. This will be the first time
Johnny & the Wallkers have played there, so come out for a
fabulous evening. Show starts immediately following the complete
and bloody dismantling of the Canucks by the Red Wings, about
9:30. Get there early for a seat. The band hopes to see EVERY
ONE of their north shore friends out for this show. If it goes
well...maybe the band will be back in the future.
A
special guest will be announced shortly.
|
|
A
Special Thank You
Johnny & the Wallkers would like to thank Steve Zamis,
who handled the sound, logistics and security at Malone's since
the band has been playing there. Steve is leaving Malone's for
a position in a different industry and Saturday was his last night.
The
band will miss not only his cool expertise, but his enjoyable
personality, and thanks him for his outstanding support over the
past two years. Best of luck to you Stevie! You are a class guy.

Deadly
Weekend at Bernie's
The band enjoyed a strong turnout at Malone's Saturday
night for another energetic show, despite a few technical issues.
Unfortunately no one took the bait and showed up as a "dead
Bernie" to win a dvd of Weekend at Bernie's and free
shooters.
The band learned later in the evening that three people put on
a dead Bernie act at Malone's Kitsilano...the wrong Malone's.
The act wasn't taken kindly and two of the Bernie's were literally
"hit in the head...and hurt", with a billy club and
tossed from the club. The third was put in the trunk of a car
and driven to Steveston and dumped near the river dyke. None of
these people received a dvd.
The
band has subsequently learned that the person dumped in Steveston
was actually not attempting to play the role of a dead Bernie,
but was rather just extremely drunk and dragged into the club
and abandoned by friends. The 69-year old was unfortunately unconcious
and cold for nearly two hours before a group of thugs found him
near the dyke and tied him to a partially submerged log boom.
The "dead Bernie" awoke when he inadvertantly rolled
his log and ended up partially in the icy waters of the Fraser
River screaming for help and choking on muddy salt water for several
hours. A tugboat operator heard the cries for help and rescued
the trapped Bernie at about 5am Sunday morning. He was "badly
shaken," and suffering from extreme hypothermia, exhaustion,
physical abuse and mental anguish. "It appears that someone
tried to kill him in a slow and torturous way," commented
RCMP officials. The tragic events did not carry the humor the
band had been expecting with respect to the Weekend at Bernie's
movies, and band patrons are warned not to get so drunk that they
could be mishandled in a similar and deadly manner as this. Furthermore,
no dvds will be presented in such cases.
|
|
Weekend
at Bernie's THIS Weekend
The
band returns to Malone's on Saturday, January 19th. Special
guest will be Anthony Mannino who played the Superintendent
in the 1989 blockbuster smash movie Weekend at Bernie's.
Anyone
showing up as a dead Bernie at the show will be treated as
a special guest and receive a shooter and a special prize. So
throw on a pair of sunglasses and let your friends drag you down
to Malone's and proceed to get so smashed you pass out and play
the part of Bernie Lomax while your friends prop you up on the
dance floor and wave your arms for you.
|
|
Wrapping
Up 2007 in Style
The band played to a great audience Saturday night at Malone's,
the last show of a busy 2007. Following the UFC broadcast, the
band launched into some heavy sets, despite a few technical difficulties,
and delivered another classic JATW show. If you missed this one,
you missed a great one!
Pictures
to come soon...and send us yours!

|
December Snow
Thanks to ALL of you who braved the elements to come down and
make this a fabulous night! A snowy blizzard outside while the
band heated things up inside from 9 until after 1am, including
some fiery new numbers in the set list. A special hello to the
Pitt Meadows attendees who made the journey, as well as the special
guest singers in the final 2 hour set. A rocking time!
Pictures in gallery.
|
|
Let's
Go....
The band returns to Malone's
in downtown Vancouver on December 1st for it's first public show
in over two months. The band reports great excitement about this
special show and recognizes its significance to band supporters.
Special
guest will be Craig Jacobs who was on the lighting
team for the 1980s movie the Flamingo Kid II. That movie
was a complete flop of course, and so was Jacobs. In fact the
film's failure could be blamed on him. He was just terrible. Jacobs
will host a special gin rummy tournament at the back tables during
the first break.
The band will make up for this with a killer performance. It is
suggested that you come early if you plan to attend as this may
be a very popular show.
|
Happy
Trails
The band completed it's private leg on the fall tour schedule Friday
night for the Inglewood Pre-School Gala held at the Capilano
Golf and Country Club. Thanks to all who attended this wonderful
cause.
The band now returns to public shows until the new year, starting
December 1st at Malone's. |
Happy
Birthday Deano!
The band played for a very special intimate group on Friday night
for a surprise party for Dean and his family and friends at the
RVYC. It was a special evening for the band too, as they rarely
play such an intimate gig. |
A Return to Highlands
It was a year ago that the band played Highlands as one of it's
first shows in the formative band years. Last night the band returned
and enjoyed another evening in one of it's favorite places, and
even introduced a few brand new numbers. Thanks to Jackie and the
organizers at Highlands.
|
Scary
Stuff and a Zombie on Drums
Truly a killer show last night at Malone's in downtoan Vancouver
at the 2007 Halloween Pub Crawl, and costumed patrons jammed the
place. DJ A-Sharp rocked the hall after the band until late.
The show also marked the debut for the new costumed drummer,
replacing the late Jim Wall (aka Ginger Spice) whom we all miss.
The new drummer will be revealed soon. |
|
Spooks Alive!
The band will play two sets at the Malone's Halloween party Saturday
October 27th, staring ealry at 7:30 and ending at 10:15. DJ A-sharp
will handle beats for the remainder of the evening, which is filled
with costume contests and other scary activites in conjunction
with a pub crawl tour. An early arrival is recommended.
|
|
Pitt
Meadows Kicks off Winter Tour
The
band prepares for it's winter 2007/08 Tour, including a number
of private functions in November. First up is the Pitt
Meadows Soccer Dance 2007, a mega event in the area at
Heritage Hall on October 20.
The band expects to kick off this leg of the tour with a landmark
show.
Please
note that a web gallery with pictures from the event will be on
this site following the show.

Malone's
Review
An
outstanding turnout last night at Malone's on a rainy Vancouver
night, and everyone rocked on until the wee hours like old times.
It
was a show not to be missed, including some special guest singers
on
You Shook Me and others including the Philly Shuffle. Thank you
to all
of you who came out in the rain for some serious partying, which
included a "Foghorn" appearance. Pictures to come.
Charles
Napier the III was a complete flop, as expected, and run out into
the rain before the second set, and thrown into a puddle.
|
|
Royalty
at Malone's
The
band is back at Malone's Saturday and ready to go.
Special
guest will be none other than Charles Napier the III who
played Lenny on the 1982 sitcom flop Lenny in the Box.
This was a terrible failure of a show.
Napier
the third could well be one of the worst guests the
band has ever had, so come enjoy the fun and help run
him out of the place. Bring your CB radios.
|
|
Love, Exciting and New...?
The
band returns to Malone's this weekend, featuring a tribute
to one of the cheesiest, but most successful shows in television
history, the Love Boat.
Said
one fan in remembering the show, "If you were an obscure
actor/actress in the late 1970's/early 1980's and your career
was flopping, the Love Boat was the place for you to be and set
sail, while on a quest for love.... or cheap sex...which was more
likely. I must plead guilty in that I admit to enjoy watching
these mostly over-the-hill entertainers ham it up, with the worst
laugh track in the history of television."
In
the spirit of this caliber of actor desperation, the band has
invited a very special guest to Malone's this weekend.
Dick
Martin, who played Deputy Captain Cunningham alongside
Captain Stubing on countless episodes of the Love Boat
(on which he was a complete flop) will lead a vigerous
discussion about the use of CB radios in cruise ship romance.
Cunningham, a complete flop, will also delve into the backstage
filth surrounding the shooting the Love Boat, including embarassing
several of his co-stars, something Martin has been secretly planning
for several years already, but instead has chosen to stew in mounting
anger all of these years...until now when he is ready to boil
over at all costs! Don't miss this special moment this Saturday
night when Martin finally goes nuts and tells us who was really
piloting the Love Boat!
|
|
Stormy Night on the North Shore
The
band was received by a good turnout at the North Shore Winter
Club Annual Summer Smash Party Saturday night, albeit under somewhat
trying circumstances due to unexpected wet weather which commenced
during the first set, forcing an early intermission. During that
time the band and club officials scrambled to cover sound and
lighting equipment, dance floor, and shore up possible electrical
hazards. The second set commenced, but the show was halted immediately
after due to pools of water onstage and submerged electrical cabling
in addition to other extreme dangers.
The band then adjourned to the patio bar while taped music
entertained the indefatigable party goers who remained in strong
numbers. After midnight the rain subsided and the band rallied
to play
one final and unprecedented set as a trio...potentially a collector's
item for bootleg fanatics...
Special
Guest Tony White left in anger shortly after the first set after
being thrown head over heels into the west swimming pool.
The
band would especially like to recognize the guest from
Boulder, Colorado, whose high dive act into the outdoor pool in
the rain, and repeated wardrobe malfunctions made the evening
an even more memorable one.
|
|
Summer
Slam
Following
last week's crazy show at Malone's, the band heads back tot eh
north shore for the first time in several months to play at the
annual North Shore Winter Club Summer Slam tennis party on Saturday
night.
Special
Guest will be none other than Tony White, who played
two seasons with the Washington Capitals from 1974 to 1976
before being sent to the minors as a complete flop. White
had always expressed an interest in touring the North Shore Winter
Club, but couldn't be bothered and instead opened a karate school
in his hometown of Kitchener, Ontario.
White will smash 15 CB radios with a sledge hammer during
the band's first break.
|
|
Doctor
In the House!
The
band returns to Malone's Saturday, July 28th, and it was one year
ago that it played Malone's for the first time in during a summer
heat wave. If meteorology repeats itself, at least there will
be a doctor in the house.
Special guest will be Dr. Ian Gunn, from Dallas, Texas.
Dr. Gunn holds no less than five Ph.D degrees from the University
of Texas in the following faculties:
- Ph.D.
Neurological Sciences and Surgery
- Ph.D
Economics of Western Taxation Policy
- Ph.D.
Contemporary North American Pop Archeology
- Ph.D.
Advanced Computer Science Engineering - Missiles
- Ph.D.
Petroleum Engineering Refinery Systems.
Gunn
currently is a registered Neurosurgeon at Dallas Memorial Hospital,
Chairman of the Dallas Museum of Archeology, Consultant
to the Internal Revenue Service Consumer Tax Division,
CMO of Datawave, a leading Dallas software company, and
Vice-President of Exploration for BP Texas Oil & Gas Division.
He has also recently opened a Karate School in Dallas,
TX.
Topics Gunn will discuss include:
- the
recent discovery of several CB Radios found in the basement
of Malone's, presumed to be pre-1980's era
- his
role in the recent remake of the British comedy Doctor In
the House in which Gunn played a deviant young skirt-chasing
intern. The show was of course a COMPLETE flop
- the
social phenomenon of Male - Female Games, Trickery and
Misrepresentation
- Gynecology
and Buggery for dummies
- His
new book "Get in the Game with Gunn!"
- Skateboards
as an alternative form of transportation
A
special auction will be held for a "personally signed"
picture of Dr. Gunn after the second set. Regretfully, Gunn will
not be able to sign any autographs at the show as his time is
very limited to partying.

That
Could Be The Last Time
Jim
Wall was a resident of Port Moody for 7 years until 2006 when
he moved to Burnaby. On the weekend, he returned with his band
to the Tri-Cities area.

A
Flopping Rendition
In
tribute to the evening's special guest, the band performed a
faithful rendition of the "Welcome Back Kotter Theme"
as originally
performed by John Sebastian in 1976. Much to the band's surprise
and
dismay, and in a turn of poetic justice, the tune was a COMPLETE
FLOP
and was cancelled after only two verses. The band are currently
re-evaluating their plans to perform a series of "All TV
Theme Songs"
shows in the fall.

Welcome
Back Kotter Redux at Malone's
"Well
the names have all changed since you hung around,
But those dreams have remained and they've turned around..."
The
band returns to Malone's in downtown Vancouver on June
30th for a long weekend party... and welcomes back another Kotter
flop... Stephen Shortridge who played the boring Beau
De Labarre on the original Welcome Back Kotter and
Kotter Redux.
Kotter
Redux was
once described by Ernie Shapereau as having the personality
and flair of broken 2H pencil. The show lasted a miserable two
and a half episodes ... making history as the only TV sitcom to
be cancelled in progress, half way through an episode, when ABC
decided they had had enough midway through episode #3 and pulled
the plug in favor of a ginsu knife commercial.
We
encourage you to come down and enjoy the show Saturday, June 30th!
|
|
Welcome
Back
After seven weeks away, the band looks forward to what it essentially
considers home, Malone's in Downtown Vancouver on Saturday
June 16th.
Special
guest is none other than Rob Harcum who played "the
boring" Murray on Welcome Back Kotter in the
1970's, as well as the "ill-advised" Kotter Redux
in the mid-1990's
...and which was a complete flop...as usual.
Parcticularly
since Harcum tried the role of Kotter himself for some unfortunate
reason which propelled him onto a toboggan ride downhill into
the gutter on a flaming bender of no return.
The CB radio discussions
have been shelved due to lack of interest.
-Thanks a lot. Great enthusiasm.
Harcum will instead host a "Kotter-style a la carte"
craps game in the alleyway behind Malone's from 10 to 10:25
sharp. Free lessons will be provided if necessary.

Band
to Play at Nat Bailey Stadium
The band will play at Nat Bailey Stadium on Tuesday, July
17th between the Vancouver
Canadians/ Spokane Chiefs game and the post game fireworks,
for approximately 20 minutes onboard of a flatbed trailer onfield.
Fans are encouraged to come out and enjoy the newly renovated stadium
and brand new look to the Canadians under new ownership. A great
summer event for you and your family! |
Bye
to Surrey... for Now
The band wrapped up at Amber Jack's on Saturday night with a killer
show to a good crowd after the WBC Welterweight Championship fight
on PPV. The band played the incredulous bar Friday night as well.
Due to a busy fall schedule the band will not be back to Surrey
for a while, but plans are underway for a return down the road or
in the new year. |
|
Rampart!
Emergency at Amber Jack's Surrey!
The band returns
to Amber Jack's Taphouse & Bar in Surrey on Friday
and Saturday, June 8th & 9th.
Special Guest is
none other than Kevin Tighe from the 1970's TV show Emergency!
in which he played paramedic Roy Desoto. He also starred
as Roy again on Emergency 1992!...which was a complete
flop. A complete mess.
Tighe will discuss
the use of CB radios in the Rampart Medical Centre.
Amber Jack's possesses
a number of strong amanities including drink specials, a large
dance floor, no cover charge and free parking, plent of sports
TV screens, pool tables, comfortable seating and booths, a great
menu, and a large stage for a great show.
Why not give it a try?
|
|
Manning
the PMD
The band entertained
the Canadian Power and Sail Squadron's Annual PMD
Change of Watch meetings on Friday and Saturday night
at the Metrotown Hilton in Burnaby.

Trip to Tri-Cities Confirmed
After many promises
over the past year, the band has finally secured a weekend in
July for it's first ever trip to the Tri-Cities area. The band
will play three consecutive nights at the Village Inn Pub
in Burnaby/ Coquitlam from Thursday to Saturday, on July 12th,
13th and 14th.
The band had received
pressure from supporters in the area for a local appearance, especially
since drummer Jim Wall resided in Port Moody for over six years
until recently moving to Burnaby, and still maintains contact
with many friends in the area.

Band
Regroups to Pull off Two Great Ceili's Shows
Johnny & the
Wallkers regrouped from some technical difficulties early in the
first set Friday night, to deliver a strong performance, and again
the next night at Ceili's this past weekend. The place was packed
as usual, and the band is negotiating for a return engagement
in August.
|
Come
and Knock on Our Door at Ceili's!
Johnny & the Wallkers keep it rolling this weekend at Ceili's
in downtown Vancouver, on Friday and Saturday night. This is the
second trip to Ceili's for the band, who had a great turnout and
reception in March.
Special guest this weekend on both nights will be none other
than Paul Ainsley, who played the sympathetic bartender for
Jack Tripper at the Regal Beagle on the TV sitcom
Three's Company in the 1980's, and who was a complete
flop on the New Three's Company in the 1990's.
Paul will be discussing the use of CB radios in bar security. If
you are bringing your CB radio down to the show with you, please
come early. |
|
New
Songs Add Spice to Setlist
The band continued the tour Saturday night at Malone's, introducing
some new set list additions...as well as some first time numbers
upon request. Don't Stop and Drive My Car were big hits, as was
drive rocker Satirday Night's Alright for Fighting. The band fulfilled
some special requests during the evening of variety and surprises.
Two weeks ago the band introduced other new songs including It's
Only Rock and Roll and Crazy Little Thing Called Love.
The band continues
to add new songs to each show, attempting to keep each show fresh
with a full arsenal of cover songs to offer.
|
"Flopping on the air in Cinncinnati"
The band kicked things off at Malone's Downtown earlier
this month. Now they'll return to Malone's on Saturday, April
28th to rock you again.
Special guest will be none other than Frank Bonner,
who played Herb Tarlek on "WKRP in Cincinnati"
in the late 70's, as well as "the New WKRP in Cincinnati"
in the early 90's... which was a complete FLOP.
**Bonner went downhill on a greased toboggan on fire after
falling through that trap door of a show.
Frank will discuss the city of Cincinnati, it's housing market slump
and the upcoming Bengal's season.
He will also be available to discuss the use of CB 2-way radios
in police work. Interested groups or ham clubs are encouraged
to again bring their own CB radios to the show. |
Book
em' Danno!...at Malone's
The band kick's things off this Saturday at Malone's with
some nice new surprises in store for you. Some new songs, new toys?
Special guest is none other than Kam Fong, who played
Detective Chin Ho Kelly on the original Hawaii Five 0 series
on 1975. Fong will be available to discuss his homeland, Hawaii,
as well as the use of CB 2-way radios in police work. Those interested
are encouraged to bring their own CB radios to Malone's Saturday. |
Wrapping
Things Up at Ceili's
The band wrapped up the winter leg of the 2007 Spice Tour with two
awesome shows at Ceili's Irish Pub on Friday and Saturday nights
to the jam packed bar in downtown Vancouver, and a wild and crazy
audience. This was the band's first ever trip to Ceili's. Johnny
& the Wallkers will now take a few weeks off before reloading
for the spring/ summer show schedule. |
Hollywood
The Hollywood Gala at Ridgeview Elementary in West Vancouver was
perhaps the bands most exciting show in some time on Saturday night.
From the opening chords of Brown Sugar, the place was bopping and
rocking al night long into the wee hours. Celebrities in attendance:
Hugh Heffner and a Playboy Bunny, Oprah and
Steadman, Posh and Beckam, Sean Connery,
Lindsay Lohan, Leah Remini, Charleton Heston
and others. Congratulations to all the auction prize winners. |
Malone's
Reviewed
Malone's is still under renovation, but the centre walls have been
knocked out, making this a big room now. The band rocked the joint
Saturday with a solid full show, and welcomed new groupies to the
scene. They will be back at Malone's in April. |
Return
to Eden
The band returned to North Vancouver Saturday night, playing at
the Carrisbrooke School Fundraiser. The band rolled out some
new material and band members sported a new "glamour 80's look"
for the function. The band will be back home to play another north
shore private function on March 3rd at Ridgeview School. |
Amber Jack's Gaining Steam
The band returned to Amber Jack's over Superbowl weekend and put
on two solid shows to a good response both nights. Arrangements
are in discussion for a return to the Surrey bar, which seems to
be increasingly exited about the band, as are the patrons. |
Return
to Stage
The band returned to the stage Saturday the 27th at Malone's, after
several weeks off. The show kick starts a series of shows over the
next several months. A good crowd was on had and saw the band introduce
some new numbers, as well as some classics. Fun was had by all. |
Malone's
Downtown Newly Renovated
The band will play the newly renovated Malone's
in downtown Vancouver on Saturday, January 27th. The room has been
expanded to double the size and the band is ready to rock this house
big time! |

and waits for beverages and food.
The

Archery
Great added to Langley Show lineup
The band is delighted to announce that Earl McGregor
will join them as a special guest at the November 4th show at the
Ice House in Langley. The 87 year-old McGregor, a Canadian Hall
of Fame Archer, is world re-known in the sport of archery, with
many championships to his credit. He will perform various death-defying
archery tricks and dangerous stunts between sets, right in the pub,
including his famous "backhanded bow and arrow double-shot
while downing a whiskey." McGregor had been recovering in the
hospital earlier this year after an archery-related accident. |

|
Ugly scene
at the conclusion of Kerrisdale show on Saturday
Following a dynamite performance on the streets of Kerrisdale,
the band was involved in a severe public dispute with an over-officious,
predatory meter-maid idiot after three members received
tickets. Sever words were exchanged over the course of 20 minutes
while the band was packing up, and fans mingling after the show
booed and jeered the jerk back into his parking enforcement vehicle.
The loser did not ruin the affair overall, as the band played
awesome under the clock, in the Kerrisdale heat, and had a good
turnout.
|

A return engagement on a two-day contract has been formally agreed
to for September 8th and 9th. |
